How Dynasty Trade Calculator calculates trades and team grades

Understand the data, formulas and limitations behind every current Dynasty Trade Calculator result.

Current implementation documented November 3, 2026. There is no published accuracy benchmark yet. No calculator can guarantee a win.

1. Sample-value trade calculator

Each demo player has a fixed, illustrative value. Send value is the sum of outgoing assets; receive value is the sum of incoming assets. The displayed edge is 100 × (receive − send) / send, rounded for display.

The calculator returns “Take it!” when receive value exceeds send value; otherwise it returns “Reject It”. Equal value therefore produces a reject verdict. This is a demonstration rule, not personalized advice. An explanation checks whether you receive more or fewer players; it does not calculate replacement-player value.

For example, the built-in Jalen Hurts and Terry McLaurin package totals 6,230 sample points, compared with 6,420 for CeeDee Lamb: a difference of 190, approximately 3%. These are not current market prices.

2. Imported standings and performance grades

The Sleeper NFL importer loads every available roster, league scoring and recorded standings using the Sleeper API. Refresh is manual. Records describe completed games; they are not projected records.

Grades rank teams by total season points scored. For a league with N teams, percentile is 1 − zero-based rank / (N − 1). Grades are A at 80% or higher, B at 60%, C at 40%, D at 20%, otherwise F. A team with no games gets no grade. Equal point totals are currently ordered by their imported order; this can affect boundary grades. Points per game are shown separately.

3. Experimental trade recommendations

After importing a league, upload weekly projections using Sleeper player IDs and your league’s scoring. The finder computes the maximum projected starting-lineup points before and after each one-for-one swap. It returns swaps that improve both teams by more than 0.1 projected points, ordered by your improvement, and displays up to three.

Complete projection coverage is required. Unsupported starting slots, more than 18 starting slots, or an impossible full lineup prevent evaluation. The optimizer supports QB, RB, WR, TE, K, DEF and the listed flex slots in the importer. It does not forecast acceptance, consider future draft picks or model injury uncertainty, bye-week availability or transaction legality. Uploaded projections are inputs, not verified predictions.

4. FPL transfer scenario planner

Net projected gain equals incoming projected points minus outgoing projected points minus the points cost you enter. Remaining budget equals bank plus actual selling proceeds minus purchase cost. Use your actual selling prices, which may differ from a player’s current market price. Use the same forecast horizon for both packages.

This planner checks arithmetic and budget only. You must verify positions, squad size, club limits, chips and free-transfer allowance in your game. It does not sync an FPL team or supply projections.

Data freshness and accuracy

The demo values and visual trend chart are static examples. Only imported Sleeper information is fetched on demand. Player photos are third-party assets and are not data sources for valuation. No automated projection, news or soccer-stat feed is connected.

Before publishing accuracy claims, we need timestamped forecasts, held-out outcomes, a declared scoring system and comparison with a baseline. We will distinguish projected points error from recommendation outcomes; neither can guarantee a championship.

Manual tools: value units versus points

The dedicated dynasty tool accepts user-supplied asset totals; the regular analyzer accepts user-supplied projected lineup totals. Both calculate receive minus send, and percentage difference relative to send. If send is zero, percentage is undefined and not displayed. Equal inputs return Even trade. These tools do not fetch forecasts or adjust your inputs automatically.
